Human cerebral hemispheric specialization for memory functions, language, emotional expression, and other cognitive functions during intraoperative monitoring, functional fMRI, and pre- and post-epilepsy surgery. In utero effects of antiepileptic drugs on neurodevelopment.

Clinical Interests
Neuropsychological assesssment of adults, adolescents, and children referred for evaluation of cognitive and personality functions with known or suspected brain disease or trauma.

Intracarotid sodium amobarbital (Wada) procedures on epilepsy surgery candidates (children and adults) to determine cerebral dominance for language and memory.

Cortical mapping of sensorimotor and language areas and evaluation of memory during neurosurgery (and from chronically implanted electrode grids) to minimize postsurgical deficit.
