Research Areas My lab is interested in the role of the immune system in the normal and de/regenerating taste system. Following axotomy, taste neurons and their associated receptor cells are able to regenerate and make functional connections. This process appears to depend on a normal immune response to injury. We believe that studying the influence of leukocytes, cytokines, and adhesion molecules in the taste system will provide insight into novel ways to promote regeneration in the CNS.
